Former shipping minister Shajahan Khan was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after falling ill at the office of the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
He was taken to the hospital on Monday afternoon due to chest pain.
After initial check-up, he was admitted for further care.
DMCH Police Outpost Inspector Md Faruk confirmed the information, saying: "Shajahan Khan was brought to the One-Stop Emergency Center in the afternoon. His condition worsened slightly, so he was admitted."
Attending physician Dr Toukir Ahmed said: “An ECG was performed on Shajahan Khan, revealing high blood pressure. He also has a history of diabetes and heart issues.”
“He was subsequently transferred to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) where he is receiving treatment after further tests,” the physician added.
