All forms of politics involving students, teachers, and officials at Jagannath University have been banned.
This announcement was made by Treasurer Prof Dr Humayun Kabir Chowdhury during a meeting with students, faculty deans, and department heads at the vice-chancellor's conference room on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the students reiterated their previous 13-point demand, giving the administration until 3pm on Wednesday to fulfill five key demands.
These demands include the immediate ban on all political activities within the university, the resumption of offline classes by Sunday, the permanent expulsion of Anthropology department teacher Kamrunnahar Lipi, the formation of a committee to organize the JOCSU (student council) election by September 20, and the cancellation of 23 appointments made on the recommendation of the BCL.
In response, the treasurer immediately announced the ban on all political activities within the university. He also assured the students that the remaining four demands would be addressed within the given timeframe.
Nur Nabi, the university's chief coordinator, expressed gratitude to the administration for enforcing the ban on campus politics.
He emphasized that while everyone has the right to engage in politics, they must enter the campus solely as teachers, officers, or students. The Treasurer, along with the deans, department heads, and student welfare advisors, also committed to meeting all 13 of the students' demands.
