Metro suspended for 30 minutes before Iftar

The metro rail operations remained suspended for around 30 minutes on Tuesday afternoon.

The train started its journey from Motijheel at 4:48pm towards Uttara. Later, it stopped upon reaching the Bangladesh Secretariat station.

The services resumed around 5:19pm. However, the authorities did not disclose the reason for the suspension.

A passenger inside the train at that station, MH Shakib, told Bangla Tribune that when the door of the train was closing, someone pushed it and blocked it. So, the train was standing for half an hour.

Another passenger said when the train reached the station, some people in a compartment pushed and held the door when it was closing. Then the door was opened and refitted several times. But it did not work. The metro authorities fixed the issue after around 30 minutes.

The closure of metro rail services before Iftar caused inconvenience to the passengers. All the stations became crowded with passengers as the services were halted during office closing hours.
