Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) removed 18,852.65 metric tonnes of sacrificial animal wastes till 5pm on Saturday from the Eid day.
The waste was disposed in Matuail landfill in 4,310 trips, DSCC public relations officer Md Abu Naser said.
Earlier, DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md Mizanur Rahman held a press conference at Shitalakkhya Hall of Nagar Bhaban this afternoon to inform about the waste disposal of sacrificial animals.
DSCC said that it started the waste disposal program at 2pm on the day of Eid on Thursday and waste from all of the wards under DSCC was removed in less than 12 hours at 1.25am.
Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) arranged luncheons for cleaning workers at respective wards on the third day of Eid to celebrate the successful program for disposal of animal waste within designated timeframe.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said: "Our cleaning worker brothers and sisters made tireless efforts and removed the animal waste within preannounced eight hours on the Eid day amidst the heavy rainfall."
It was very challenging task during the inclement weather but it has been possible to finish the task successfully due to hard work of the cleaning workers, he said.
"In recognition of their hard work, we have arranged luncheons for our worker brothers and sisters. We shared our joy of Eid with the arrangement," he mentioned.
