Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) will hold a planet-watching event on the IUB's rooftop from 5 to 9 pm on Thursday.
This will be the first program of Dürbin, an observational group that travels around the country to conduct astrophotography of planets, nebula, stars, galaxies and other astronomical objects, reads a press release.
They will share their images and stories with everyone to raise awareness about the Universe we live in.
Volunteers from all across Bangladesh are getting trained on using the telescopes and will soon organize programs in their locality. On Thursday, Muhammed Zafar Iqbal will inaugurate Dürbin. Astrophysicist Lamiya Ashraf Mowla will give a talk on the James Webb Space Telescope.
CourtesyEveryone in the program can look through the telescopes and use smartphones to take pictures of planets, stars, nebulas and galaxies through the telescopes. Children, youths, and students of all ages are especially welcome in this program.
The inauguration program of Dürbin is free and open to everyone and will take place from 5pm to 9pm, Thursday, at IUB Auditorium, Plot 16, Block B, Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka.
Dürbin is a joint outreach program between IUB and Dunlap Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics, University of Toronto, Canada.
