NSU welcomes Falgun with festivities

North South University (NSU) on Tuesday celebrated Pohela Falgun, or the arrival of the Bangla spring season, with Boshonto and Pitha Utshob 1429 featuring singing, reciting, dancing and sweet delicacies of rice cakes. 

The event was organized by NSU's Shangskritik Shangathan (NSUSS), and the campus in Bashundhara was adorned with handmade festoons, banners and flyers, reads a press release.

Thousands of students in red and yellow attires with flowers in hand welcomed Pohela Falgun. 

The NSU plaza area was lively with traditional dances, folk songs, and a “pitha utshob” showcasing a variety of sweet, sour and spicy rice cakes. 

NSU Vice-Chancellor Prof Atiqul Islam inaugurated the festival and urged students to preserve Bengali culture.

Pahela Falgun marks the first day of spring in the Bengali month of Falgun, and the month is considered the king of all six seasons.
