DNCC to take action for putting up posters on metro rail pillars

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will take action against people who defaced the metro rail pillars with posters.

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said: "Last week, I gave a public notice about not putting up posters. Legal action will be taken if posters are put up in anyplace. Now that digital campaigns can be carried out, why put up posters?”

Even though there were warning signs of the city corporation to not hang any posters, there were many pillars full of posters from Uttara station to Motjheel route of the metro rail.

Officials from the city corporation claim that the Wall Writing and Placing of Posters (Control) Act, 2012, makes it illegal to put up posters.

Mayor Atiqul Islam said that in the next board meeting of the city corporation, it will be decided where the posters can be put up in the wards.

He questioned the practice of putting up posters on the walls by coaching centres and urged parents not to send their kids there.

“We already live in a noisy, polluted metropolis, if it then turns into a poster city, it will be terribly sad. I will check to see whose poster was displayed,” he said.
