A couple died from smoke inhalation during a fire in their home in Dhaka’s Gulshan area early on Thursday.
The deceased are Obaidul Haque, 65, and his wife Jahanara Begum, 52.
According to the police, the husband and wife, who were in their bedroom, were taken to United Hospital, where they later died.
There were no burns on their body.
The bodies were handed over to their family after autopsy at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
Fire Service official Rakibul Hasan said two firefighting units went to the spot and doused the fire.
The fire is believed to have started from a short circuit, he added.
Gulshan Zone Assistant Police Commissioner Newton told reporters that the incident is being investigated.
