Another person has succumbed to his injuries sustained in last week's explosion at a seven-storey building in the Siddikbazar area of Gulistan in Dhaka, taking the death toll to 23.
Azam Mridha, 36, died while undergoing treatment in the ICU of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Saturday morning.
Around 80% of the surface area of his body had been burnt in the blast, Resident Surgeon Dr SM Ayub Hossain said.
So far three injured persons had died at the institute, he said, adding that another seven were receiving medical care there.
The death toll may rise further as dozens of other critically injured patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
The explosion at a restaurant called Cafe Queen in the seven-storey building in Gulistan on March 7 and another one in the Science Lab area two days prior, which left three dead, has raised concern about building safety in the densely populated Dhaka.
