Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said United States should learn from Bangladesh election.
He made the statement after casting his vote for Dhaka-18 by-polls in Uttara's IES High School center on Thursday.
He said: "Where they (US) cannot announce the election results even in four or five days, Bangladesh can complete the vote count in four to five minutes through EVM (Electronic Voting Machines)."
“In their nearly 250 years of democratic experience, they have yet to do so (using EVMs). Secondly, they have no central election commission."
Stating the allegations raised by BNP as baseless, he said: "I have been investigating through the presiding officers and the control room since this morning. No such unwanted incident happened as they have claimed."

Replying to a query of journalists regarding not announcing a general holiday during Dhaka-18 constituency elections, Nurul said: "Voters will go to the centre on their own will."
“Meanwhile, as a result of announcing general holiday during previous polls, it was seen that many voters went back home after getting holiday without casting votes."
"This is why voter turnout decreases. Considering everything, as it does not take much time to vote, this time we did not announce any general holiday," he added.
