A woman has been killed after a bus hit her in front of Institute of Child and Mother Health in Matuail of Dhaka’s Jatrabari area.
The deceased is Maryam Begum, 48, wife of Nur Islam from Lakshmipur upazila of Noakhali district. She lived with her husband, two sons and a daughter in Dhaka’s Demra area.
The accident happened around 11am on Wednesday.
Maryam was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition where on-duty doctors declared her dead around 11:45am, said DMCH police outpost In-Charge Md Bacchu Mia.
Maryam’s daughter Jannat Akhter said: “A passenger bus hit my mother when we were crossing the road. She was severely injured and rushed to the hospital where doctors declared her dead.”
Md Bacchu Mia said Jatrabari police station has been informed about the incident and the bus was seized.
