Police have recovered the decomposed body of a businessman from a flat in the Sayeed Nagar area under Vatara police station in Dhaka on Saturday midnight.
As per primary investigation, police said the victim, Saiful Islam, 40, a resident of Madhubag area of West Dhanmondi, was slaughtered.
Saiful Islam lived with his family in Dhaka and was running a business at Hazaribagh area.
Talking to Dhaka Tribune, Vatara police station Sub Inspector Abu Azif said a few months ago, a middle-aged male named Apple took the respective flat on rent along with a woman he claimed was his wife. However, the woman never lived in the house.
Abu Azif said the tenant Apple had escaped the scene and police believes that he was involved in the murder.
A case has also been filed in this regard.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has collected evidence from the crime scene.
