A special flight has returned with 409 Bangladeshis who were stranded in Doha amidst travel restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The flight, arranged by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:30am on Thursday, Biman’s Deputy General Manager Tahera Khondoker told Dhaka Tribune.
Most of the Bangladeshis had been staying in the country without any jobs, even though they went there as workers. Some of them may have lost their jobs due to the lockdowns caused by the coronavirus pandemic. A few of them were there on tourist visas as well.
Some of the workers also said that they needed to return to their families due to emergencies caused by the coronavirus crisis.
