The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) authorities are all set to begin a drive to clean all water bodies and sewers, except the private ones, in its territory on Sunday.
Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, mayor of the DSCC, made the disclosure on Wednesday noon after inspecting the ongoing development activities of the Osmani Udyan, UNB reports.
“After cleaning the water bodies, we’ll make arrangements for fish farming and release ducks in them to ensure water flow. As a consequence, the cleaning activities would play an effective role in the prevention of mosquitoes in addition to solving water-logging problem,” Taposh said.
Mentioning that many such initiatives are in the pipeline, the mayor also said they will implement those initiatives in phases. “The city dwellers will soon be able to understand the reflection of the change,” he added.
Mayor Taposh vented anger over the slow pace of development project at the Osmani Udyan and gave instructions to gear up the activities.
Shah Md Emdadul Haque, chief executive officer of DSCC and other high officials were present on the occasion.
