Former Chhatra league leader Mostak Ahmed Shahin has declared that capt (retd) Abdul Majed will be prevented from being buried in his home district Bhola after his execution for killing Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Former president of Chhatra League’s Bhola unit and Swechasebak League, Shahin made the announcement on Friday.
He told Dhaka Tribune: “People are now locked in their homes because of coronavirus. In this situation, to make sure Bangabandhu’s killer won’t be buried here in Bhola, I will be in the field if needed. His body cannot be buried in Bhola.”
Shahin also shared a Facebook status on Thursday where he expressed his stern position on preventing Majed’s burial in Bhola.
Earlier in the evening, Majed’s family members visited him in Keraniganj jail.
On Wednesday, President Abdul Hamid turned down the mercy petition of Majed, thus clearing the way for his execution.
Also on the same day, Dhaka’s District and Session’s Court issued the death warrant for Majed after he was produced in court from the jail.
A team of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested Majed from the city’s Mirpur area on Tuesday.
