Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said to wait to see what happens regarding the arrest issue of Dhaka Jubo League (South) unit President Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat.
“The home minister is overseeing matters regarding the arrest. I will not comment on the issue. Wait and see,” Quader said while visiting the construction works of an underpass near Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School in Dhaka Cantonment.
Samrat went into hiding after being suspected of running illegal casinos. He has been banned from leaving the country, according to the police.
Since September 18, RAB and police have raided different clubs across Bangladesh, busting illegal casinos. A number of people, including Jubo league leaders, were detained and then showed arrested after the raids.
Regarding BNP's demand of ministers, and ruling party MPs making their wealth statements public, Quader said the BNP leaders will also need to account for all of their wealth.
He said: “How have the BNP leaders made so much money? All will be counted.”
Regarding the possible amendment to the Road Transport Act, Quader, also the roads, transport and bridges minister, said there is no move to reform the law, and that the news over the issue is just a rumor.
