Organizing Secretary of Awami Jubo League’s Dhaka (South) unit, Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan, has been expelled from the party.
The decision was taken on Friday afternoon, confirmed Awami Jubo League Chairman Omar Faroque Chowdhury.
"Khalid was expelled from Jubo League because of his unethical activities and breaching the party's discipline," he said.
Earlier, Khalid was arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) for running an unauthorized casino in Dhaka's Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club on Wednesday.
During the raid at his club, the law enforcement officials seized a shotgun, two pistols, 57 rounds of shotgun shells, 53 rounds of bullets, 585 yaba pills, over Tk10 lakh, and more than Tk7 lakh in foreign currencies.
As a result, RAB officials took him to Gulshan police station on the following day and filed three cases under the Narcotics Control Act, Arms Act and Money Laundering Prevention Act.
Two Dhaka courts also granted police seven days to interrogate Khalid on Thursday evening.
