Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim has assured the tanners that there will be no salt crisis during Eid-ul-Azha.
He made the statement at a views exchange meeting with journalist at Savar Tannery Industrial Estate in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Abdul Halim said a total of 1.8 million metric tons of salt has been produced this year against Bangladesh's annual demand of 1.4 million metric tons.
The demand is 100,000 metric tons just for the upcoming Eid.
He also informed that the work on Savar Tannery Industrial Estate will be completed by June, 2020.
Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) Chairman Shaheen Ahmed and higher official of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) were also present in the event.
