Gana Sanghati Andolan urges people to stand beside the flood affected

Gana Sanghati Andolan on Friday urged people from all spheres of life to stand beside the food affected people of the country.

Addressing a human chain in front of the National Press Club, leaders of the platform condemned the lack of relief for these people, the state's failure in preventing mob lynching incidents, and demanded announcing dengue as an epidemic and taking necessary action to prevent it.

Chief Coordinator of the platform Junaid Saki said five million people are now waterlogged in at least 30 districts, but no forecast was made, nor was any plan on relief and rehabilitation of the victims announced by the government for the flood affected population.

“Corruption in embankment construction and its protection, unprecedented looting, and wasting public money is behind the drastic degradation of the flood situation,” said Saki.

The platform leader said at least 10 people had been killed and many more were injured from mob beatings across the country.

Blaming the government's delayed action in preventing mob beatings and lawlessness in the country, he demanded the government to admit it as a failure and apologise to the families of the mob lynching victims and ensure punishment for the perpetrators.

The platform leaders also demanded the government to admit its failure in dengue prevention and take necessary action to save people of this city from the virus.
