Tunisia boat capsize: 15 Bangladeshis return home

Fifteen Bangladeshi migrants have returned home safely after surviving a boat capsize incident in the Mediterranean Sea.

Turkish Airlines flight, carrying the survivors, reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, around 5:50am, said Ataur Rahman, on-duty official at the Expatriates’ Welfare Desk of the airport.

Upon arriving at the airport, members of law enforcement talked to them. They will be handed over to family members after questioning, he added.

More than 60 migrants, most of whom are Bangladeshi, died after two boats—carrying over a hundred migrants—capsized in the Mediterranean Sea, off the Tunisian coast, on May 9 and 10. 

The 15 Bangladeshi survivors were among 57 passengers of a boat that capsized on May 9.
