Konapara double murder case: Police submit charge sheet against 2

Police on Thursday submitted the charge sheet in the case filed over the rape and murder of two five-year-old girls in the Demra area of Dhaka on January 7.

Two men who were detained in connection with the incident have been named as the accused in the charge sheet.

Demra police station Sub-Inspector Md Shah Alama, also investigation officer of the case, pressed charges against the accused under Section 302/201/34 of the Penal Code and the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000.

The charge sheet was submitted to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court. In addition to naming the accused, the investigation officer mentioned the names of 30 prosecution witnesses in the charge sheet.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court General Recording Officer Sub-inspector Md Liakat Ali told the Dhaka Tribune: “The charge sheet has been sent to Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikdar for cognizance.”

The court will decide whether to frame the charges on February 22.

On January 8, Golam Mostafa, 28, and his cousin Azizul Bawani, 30, were arrested from the Jatrabari and Demra areas of Dhaka. The arrests came a day after the murder of two five-year-old girls, Faria Akter Dola and Nusrat Jahan, in Konapara.

Golam and Azizul were sent to jail after they gave confessional statements before a Dhaka court.

What charge sheet says?

Quoting the viscera analysis report, the charge sheet said one of the two victims was raped, and the culprits attempted to rape the other but failed.

On the day of the incident, the culprits lured the two victims, who were playing near their house in Demra, with lipstick, and took them to Golam’s house and confined them in a room there.

They then attempted to rape the two children, who began screaming. As a result, the culprits strangled them to death.

Later, the father of one of the victims filed a case with Demra police station against the accused.
