A fire had broken out on the ground and first floors of the Ekushey Television (ETV) building in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar.
Panicked people from the building ran out onto the street.
The blaze broke out around 10:20am on Monday, and was extinguished half an hour later, around 11am.
Fire Service duty officer Rasel Shikder confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
"Seven of our units rushed to the spot upon receiving the information. We doused the fire, and no one was injured in the incident," he said.
He continued that the fire originated from a gas cylinder of a tea shop beside the building. It blazed through the first floor air-conditioning unit, creating a lot of smoke.
As there have been fires in the building multiple times before, people panicked easily.
“We doused the fire and recovered around Tk30 lakh’s-worth of equipment. The estimated damage caused by the fire is around Tk2.5 lakh.
