Police have arrested BNP Executive Committee member Nipun Roy Chowdhruy in connection with a case filed over Wednesday’s violent clashes between police and the party’s supporters in Dhaka’s Naya Paltan.
Confirming the news, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch Deputy Commissioner (East) Nurun Nabi said that Nipun was picked up from the Nightingale intersection at Kakrail around 8pm on Thursday.

Nipun was caught on video while leading a procession nearby the BNP’s headquarters at Naya Paltan on Wednesday, right after the clashes took place.
A lawyer by profession, Nipun is also the daughter-in-law of BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy.
