Ruchita Begum, 45, was visiting her husband, who had been admitted to the ENT department on January 28, when the plaster fell.
She was going to the washroom when a portion of ceiling collapsed on her around 1:30pm Saturday.
Ruchita was rushed to the emergency unit and treated there, hospital sources said.
Khaja Abdul Gafur, deputy director of DMCH, said the woman had suffered head injuries and was being provided treatment.
She is now out of danger, he added.
He further said that the Public Works Department had been asked to repair the damaged ceiling.
