Kids corner vibrant on 2nd day of Book Fair

One of the main attractions was children’s books that were shaped like animals.
Asrar Masud, proprietor of Progoti Publishers, said a research on what kind of books would catch children’s attention was conducted prior to the event.
The Bangla Academy sources said a total of five books were unveiled on the second day.
A large number of prominent writers and publishers visited the fairground and expressed their hope to enjoy the event which has heightened security this year.
A four-day-long international conference is also being held, offering honorary crests to six noted writers and intellectuals for their contribution to art, culture and literature.
Writers from Austria, Germany, Malaysia, Russia, China and India are set to be a part of the conference.
The conference will continue until February 4 with a selection of seminars and discussions on art, culture, translated books, literature on Liberation War, drama, children’s books, folklore and much more.
Government sponsored publications have set up their stalls at the Bangla Academy premises, while private publication booths are located in the park area of Suhrawardy Udyan.
A total of 663 stalls have been allocated to 409 publishing houses.
The fair hours are: 3pm to 8:30pm on weekdays and 11am to 8:30pm on holidays.
