Nasir: CCC will be mega city soon

Some development projects of the corporation with an outlay of Tk10 billions were waiting to get approval from Executive Committee of the National Economic Council. Besides, development projects amounting to Tk15 billions, construction of Nagar Bhaban, canal excavation from Bahadderhat to Chaktai under 1995 Master Plan and DPP for excavating two more canals are being prepared,” said the mayor, adding that he, immediately after assuming office, undertook all necessary steps to ensure transparency and accountancy of the corporation activities.

The CCC mayor made the remark while addressing a seminar titled ‘Road Construction and Quality Control’.

The corporation still does not have any legal manpower organogram. We have overhauled the corporation despite all obstacles, including fund crunch and manpower shortage ones. We are also taking elaborate programmes to turn Chittagong into a smart city in collaboration with the ICT Division of the government,” said the mayor.

The mayor in his speech also sought cooperation from the townspeople to turn Chittagong into a clean and green city.

The Engineering Department of the CCC organised the seminar at Engineers Institute in the city yesterday.

The CCC Superintend Engineer Rafiqul Islam Manik gave a welcome address while Executive Engineer Jhulan Kumar Das moderated the seminar.

The former chief engineers of the corporation were also given a reception at the seminar.
