Fifty-six cocktails, eight hand-made bombs and 250 grams of gunpowder were seized from the possession of a veteran bomb-maker as he was taken into custody from the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area yesterday.
The accused, Md Manik, 28, was arrested from the Puran Bazar Shahnewaz house in West Agargaon. RAB raided an under-construction building situated north of the Neuroscience Hospital, where Manik was arrested and some of his explosives were seized.
After interrogating the suspect, officials recovered another stash of explosive devices and bomb-making equipment near Bosila Bridge.
RAB officials said Manik has been involved in various criminal activities for the last 12 years. They described him as a bomb-maker for hire.
Manik is also an FIR-listed accused in a murder case. In 2002, a case was filed against him for his involvement in the Ayesha killing in the capital’s Mohammadpur area. He was absconding and a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
