Three people were detained in Dhaka on Wednesday for allegedly leaking Bangladesh Open University (BOU) examination question papers.
The detainees are Sri Babul Chowdhury, 42, Md Tajul Islam, 32, and Md Sohel Mia, 23. Babul is a cleaner at Habibullah Bahar College.
Police recovered the BOU test papers from the detainees’ possession in addition to a computer, question papers of HSC Bangla second paper – a compulsory subject – and Sociology and BA/BSS Social Statistics question papers.
On October 15, Sohel Mia, one of the detainees, wrote on the ‘Bangladesh Open University’ Facebook page that he had BOU 2013 HSC exam questions for sale.
Students were told they could get the question papers at 10am of the exam day.
BOU authorities lodged a written complaint with police headquarters, Shaikh Nazmul Alam, deputy commissioner of the police’s Detective Branch (DB) (north), said at a press conference around noon today.
