Muggers shoot businessman, snatch Tk 7 lakh

Pistol-wielding muggers opened fire on a businessman and made off with Tk7 lakh in broad daylight inear Khilgaon flyover in the capital, leaving him with bullet wounds.

The wounded victim, Zahir Ahmed, 32, has been admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Zahir received three bullets-- one in his chest, one in left leg and another one in left hand.

The bullet-wound businessman, Zahir Ahmmed, told the Dhaka Tribune: “Three armed muggers riding on a motorcycle intercepted me on Shahjahanpur Bazar Road near the Khilgaon Flyover around 7pm while I was on the way to home a rickshaw.

They were trying to snatch my bag containing the money but I resisted. At one stage, they opened fire on me, leaving me injured and fled the scene with my money,” he added.

Inspector Mozammel Huq of the DMCH police outpost said they informed Shahjahanpur police about the incident.
