The body of an eight-year-old boy, who was reportedly kidnapped for ransom, has been recovered from a pond in Bogra Town on Monday evening.
The deceased Siyam, the son of Belal Hossain, a rickshaw puller, went missing on Saturday.
According to the family members, Siyam went missing on Saturday afternoon. Later, the abductors called Belal in the night and demanded TK300,000 as ransom.
Belal gave Tk80,000 to the kidnapper immediately after he got the phone call. After taking the money the abductors didn't contact anymore, they claimed.
Later, the body of Siyam was seen floating in the pond.
Sub-Inspector Anwar Hossain of Bogra Sadar police station, who has recovered the body, said: “The boy died of suffocation.
Detailed information in this regard will be known after investigation,” he added.
