Two held with 5 gold bars in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel have arrested two alleged smugglers and seized five gold bars weighing 750 grams from Sadipur frontier under Benapole port Police Station on Friday morning.

The arrestees are Uttam Majumder, son of Anil Majumder and Jasim Uddin, son of Mozam Uddin of Gazipur village under Abhaynagar upazila.

Lieutenant Colonel Matiur Rahman,Commanding officer of BGB 26 battalion, told Dhaka Tribune that being tipped off about a consignment of gold, a BGB petrol team conducted a drive in Sadipur frontier around 10:40 am.

‘Estimated value of the gold is Tk 4 million,’ he added.

He further said, the BGB in another raid seized 500 bottles of phensidyls from Jadobpur frontier under the port police station around 6am on the day. However, none has been arrested.

Two cases were filed with Benapole port police station in this connection.
