A Chittagong court has sentenced lifetime imprisonment to a youth for abducting a college student in the port city in 2012.
The court also fined him Tk50,000.
Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 2, Md Zakir Hossain, pronounced the verdict in the presence of the accused Md Milton Hawladar, 26.
Abu Naser Chowdhury, special prosecutor of the tribunal, told the Dhaka Tribune that the judge delivered the verdict under section seven of Women and Children Repression Prevention Act as the charges against the accused did not proved any doubts.

Later, the police arrested Milton.
Police submitted a charge sheet before the tribunal against the lone accused on September 30, 2012, while the tribunal took the charge sheet into its cognisance on May 16, 2013.
The tribunal framed the charges against the accused on July 8, 2013 and the judge pronounced the verdict after testifying seven witnesses.
