Sramik Dal leader hacked to death in Pabna

A leader of Sramik Dal, the workers’ front of BNP, has been hacked to death over digging and land irrigation in Haiderpur village under Atgharia upazila in Pabna on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ripon, son of Gani Sarder of Poida village under Gayespur union.

He was the vice- president of upazila Sramik Dal unit and member of district Sramik Dal, said district Sramik Dal unit General Secretary Abdul Gafur.

Atgharia police station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Lenin Alamgir said: “There was a long dispute between Ripon and a group of people Haiderpur village over land. The opponents fled after hacking him and cutting tendon of his legs while Ripon went to visit his land in Haiderpur village.”

Duty doctor announced him dead when the locals took him to Pabna Medical College, he added.

He said: “Upon recieving information, additional police has been sent to the area. Police is trying to arrest the criminals.”

The body has been sent to Pabna Medical College morgue for autposy, the OC added.
