A businessman has been gunned down in the capital's Khilgaon area on Wednesday night.
The victim Maznu Mia, 50 son of Alkas Bhuiyan, was a contractor of brick and sand.
Wahiduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Khilagaon police station, told the Dhaka Tribune: “A gang of unidentified miscreants numbering 10 to 12 suddenly swooped on him and started firing, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he succumbed his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 8pm,” he added.
Maznu's wife Shahida Akhter said: “Manzu went outside after getting phone call from a man named Rahman. They walked together until the gang started firing.”
A woman named Hazera, 40, who was crossing the road with her child received injuries during the firing. She has been admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
