Two found dead in separate incidents in Dhaka

The bodies of an 11-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man were recovered in separate incidents in Dhaka's Kamrangirchar and Hazaribagh areas, police said.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the police outpost at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), confirmed the matter.

According to family members and police, Md Rihad, 11, was found unconscious at his home in the Borogram area of Kamrangirchar on Saturday. His family said a rope became entangled around his neck while he was playing on the balcony, leading to the fatal incident. He was rushed to DMCH, where doctors declared him dead after examination.

Rihad lived with his family in the Borogram area of Kamrangirchar.

In a separate incident, Sagar, 21, was found hanging unconscious from the balcony grille of his home in the Gonokotuli area of Hazaribagh early Sunday. Family members rescued him and took him to DMCH, where doctors pronounced him dead.

According to his relatives, Sagar was the son of Halim Mia and Hamida of Gonokotuli. They alleged that he had been struggling with drug addiction and may have taken his own life after failing to obtain money for drugs from his mother. They also said he was unemployed.

Inspector Faruk said Sagar’s body has been kept at the DMCH morgue for an autopsy, while Rihad’s body was handed over to his family without an autopsy at their request.
