Army operations in Khagrachhari: One killed, weapons recovered

Bangladesh Army conducted two separate operations against an armed group in Khagrachhari’s Ramgarh and Panchhari upazilas, resulting in exchanges of fire, one death, and the recovery of arms and ammunition.

In the latest incident in Ramgarh’s Hajachhara area at around 10am on Wednesday, an exchange of fire took place, leaving one member of the armed group dead. The Army later recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, one pipe gun, 27 rounds of ammunition, and other items from the scene, according to a press release from the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).

In a separate operation in Panchhari’s Barokhal area at around 2pm on June 23, members of the armed group opened fire on army personnel, triggering a gunfight. Following the operation, two members of the group surrendered with two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, and 132 rounds of ammunition.

The Army said its operations against armed groups will continue to ensure lasting peace in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and safeguard the lives and security of all communities.
