Robbers barge into Sonali Bank, steal 1.5C, 14 guns in Bandarban

Armed robbers have stolen Tk1.59 crore from the vault of the Sonali Bank branch in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban. 

The robbers also took away 14 guns belonging to Ansar members responsible for the security of the bank.

The robbers abducted the branch manager, Nezam Uddin, during the robbery, Ruma Upazila Nirbahi Officer (acting) Didarul Alam told Dhaka Tribune.

According to local sources, the upazila experienced a power cut at nine o'clock on Tuesday.

At the time, armed robbers broke into the bank by cutting the grills on the windows. They beat up the Ansar members on duty at the branch as well. 

The group also mugged several people by cordoning-off a local mosque.

Following the incidents, armed forces and members of the police strengthened security in the area.
