A schoolgirl was abducted on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr as she was shopping with friends at the Sharsha upazila of Jessore.
The girl is identified as Fatema Akter Lima, a student of class VIII, daughter of Mahabub Hossain from the Navran Uttar Burujbagan village in Sharsha. Police said the incident occurred on Thursday when the 14-year-old was shopping at the Navran New Market along with some of her friends.
Police have identified the abductors as local goon Raju and his known accomplices, though the girl is yet to be rescued. A case has been lodged with the Sharsha police station regarding the matter.
