Three female militant suspects remanded for 84hrs in Kushtia

A Kushtia court has granted a 84-hours remand for the wife of the New JMB chief Ayub Bachchu and two other supects on Monday. Kushtia Senior Magistrate Judge MM Morshed gave this order on Monday noon. According to insiders, the female militnats were presented to the court in the morning by Bheramara police station OC (Investigation) Annul Zayed. Annul had requested a remand of ten days for the suspects. After a long hearing, the court finally granted a remand of 84 hours. The detainees are the New JMB chief Ayub's wife Ashradi Jahan Tithi, the New JMB second-in-command Talha's wife Sumaiya, and Toli Begum. On Sunday, Bheramara police station SI Roknuzzaman filed a case against the three. Meanwhile, Nasima Khatun, the house owner of the militant hideout where the suspects were caught, was sent to court under Section 57. On Saturday, the law enforcers have concluded a raid in a suspected militant hideout in Kushtia’s Bheramara upazila, nearly 22 hours after they cordoned it off. Talking to the Dhaka Tribune on Sunday afternoon, Kushtia Police Superintendent SM Mehedi Hasan said acting on a tip-off, the joint force of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, Kushtia police and Detective Branch of police cordoned off the tin-shed house near Taltola mosque in Bamonpara area under the upazila early Saturday. “CTTC Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan has been leading a joint drive since 3am. Soon after the raid kicked off, a female militant had tried to detonate an explosive vest wrapped around her body. Fortunately she was apprehended before something untoward incident takes place,” he added. Later, the police arrested the three along with suicide vests, gun powder and pistol during the drive.
