Police on Tuesday night arrested a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League for raping a college girl in Shahrasti upazila of Chandpur district.
The arrested is Md Sohel Hossen, son of Ahsan Ullah of Balshid village in Tamta union council. He is the general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Shaharasti upazila unit.
Md Shah Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Shahrasti police station said, they nabbed Sohel from Tamta union’s Shankurpur village at night.
The victim’s father filed a case against Sohel with the police station.
According to the case statement, Sohel raped the girl after false promises of marriage.
But, later, he refused to marry her and threatened her in a different way.
The victim was sent to Chandpur Sadar Hospital for medical tests.
