A junkie Sohag, 24 slit the throat of Rani, 25—a woman he used to get high together with, for moving in with another man and abusing drugs with him, says police.
The murder happened in Bangsal on Monday morning.
Bangsal police station Officer in-Charge (OC) Shahidur Rahman confirmed her death saying: “We recovered Rani’s body and sent it to the Mitford Hospital morgue for an autopsy.”
“We arrested the accused Sohag from Fulbaria, Dhaka a few hours later. He gave a confessional statement after being produced to court on Monday,” he added.
He said, Sohag confessed to the police that Rani used to live with him and together they would get high. She had recently moved in with another man and started abusing drugs with him.
Sohag had gone to meet her about this at Walton lane of the Bangsal area. They had an argument which escalated, leading to Sohag slitting her throat with a sharp blade, police said.
