Ziaul Ahsan shown arrested in Salahuddin disappearance case

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) on Thursday showed former National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) director general Ziaul Ahsan arrested in a case filed over the enforced disappearance of incumbent Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.

The three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Md Golam Martuza Majumder, passed the order allowing a prosecution petition in this regard. It set October 27 for submission of the investigation report in the case.

Salahuddin Ahmed filed a complaint with the International Crimes Tribunal on June 3, 2025, against seven people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, over his alleged enforced disappearance in 2015.

The other accused in the complaint are former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal; former inspectors general of police AKM Shahidul Haque and Benazir Ahmed; former NTMC director general Ziaul Ahsan; former Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia; and former chief of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police Monirul Islam.
