Court orders seizure of ex-DB chief Harun's assets

A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of 33 acres of land, five buildings, and two flats owned by Mohammad Harunor Rashid, the former head of the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police

Additionally, ten bank accounts under his name have been frozen, containing a total deposit of Tk12,690,468.

On Wednesday, following a hearing, Dhaka’s Senior Special Judge, Md Zakir Hossain Galib, issued the order in response to a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the ACC's petition, Harunor Rashid owns a building worth Tk3 crore on 7.45 katha of land in Uttara, Dhaka.

Additionally, he possesses another building in Gulshan, valued at Tk3.97 crore. He also owns a half-constructed tin-shed house in Kuril, a one-story building, and another half-constructed tin house in Khilkhet. The petition requested the seizure of these properties.

Furthermore, Harun owns a flat on the second floor of a seven-story building in Uttara’s Sector 10 and another flat on the sixth floor of a six-story building in Joar Sahara.

The court has also ordered the seizure of a five-katha plot under his name in Ashiyan City.

Additionally, 99.18 bighas of land registered under Harunor Rashid’s name in Kishoreganj, Cox’s Bazar, and Narayanganj have been seized. Out of this, 91.32 bighas are located in Kishoreganj alone.
