Witness deposition against Sefat Ullah deferred to July 4

A Dhaka court has deferred the recording of depositions against Sefat Ullah, popularly known as “Sefuda,” to July 4 in a case filed over hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims.

Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Muhammad Ash Sams Joglul Hossain fixed the fresh date as the prosecution failed to produce witnesses on Wednesday.

On November 19 last year, the same court ordered the confiscation of Sefuda’s assets when police submitted a report to the court stating that they had been unable to arrest him.

On September 30, 2019, the court issued an arrest warrant against Sefat Ullah, a Bangladeshi expatriate in Austria, following a probe report in the case.

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Sub-inspector (SI) Partha Pratim Brahmachari submitted the probe report on September 10,2019,

On April 23, advocate Alim Al Razi Jibon filed the case against Sefat Ullah under the Digital Security Act, accusing him of making derogatory remarks about Muslims.

The advocate also accused him of using obscene words about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube.
