JKG’s Sabrina gets bail in NID fraud case

A Dhaka court granted bail to JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury in connection with a case filed over possessing two national identity (NID) cards with fake information.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes granted the bail order on November 22.

Sabrina’s counsel's Pranab Kanti Bhowmik confirmed the matter to the media on Sunday.

Election officer Md Momin Mia filed the case on August 30 with Badda police station under National Identity Registration Act, 2010.

Case statement said Sabrina has used two different names of her husband in two NID cards and reduced her age in one of them.

The two NID cards were blocked by the authorities after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sought details from the Election Commission over the scam.

Sabrina is currently in jail in a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates. On August 20, a Dhaka court framed charges against eight people including Sabrina in the case.

JKG Healthcare reportedly provided 27,000 Covid-19 reports without following proper test procedures and most of them were found to be fake.
