National University (NU) Proctor Touhid Zaman and Assistant Registrar Siddiqur Rahman have been released from jail on bail in a corruption case filed for causing loss of public money.
They walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail-2 on Friday morning, said Jailer Anwar Hossain.
Earlier on Thursday night, Gazipur District and Sessions Judge AKM Enamul Haque granted them interim bail till February 23 and rejected the bail plea of another official, Assistant Director Md Mofazzal Hossain.
The accused allegedly provided Selection Grade to a number of NU officials violating government rules.
The Anti-Corruption Commission arrested them on February 13 from Dhaka’s Mirpur area.
In 2012, a man filed a case against them on the allegation of causing a loss of about Tk1.04 crore to the government.
According to the case statement, the trio provided Selection Grade to a number of NU officials violating government rules, which caused the loss of public money.
The case was later transferred to the ACC.
ACC assistant director Fazlul Bari is currently leading an investigation into the corruption case.
