National University proctor, two others arrested in corruption probe

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested three National University (NU) officials, including its proctor, in a corruption case accusing them of causing loss of public money.
NU Proctor and also the Deputy Registrar MH Tahid Zaman, Assistant Registrar Md Siddiqur Rahman and Assistant Director Md Mofazzal Hossain were arrested on Monday morning from Dhaka's Mirpur, reports UNB.
In 2012, a man filed a case against them on allegation of causing a loss of about Tk1.04 crore to the government.
According to case statement, the trio provided Selection Grade to a number of NU officials violating government rules, which caused the loss of public money.
The case was later transferred to the ACC.
ACC assistant director Fazlul Bari is currently leading investigation in the corruption case.
