KUET holds workshop on academic writing for scientific research

A day-long workshop titled "Crafting Academic Writing for Scientific Research" was held on Tuesday at the Student Welfare Center, Room 201, of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), organized by the Academic Achievement and Skill Development Center (AASDC).

The opening ceremony was graced by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Mashud as chief guest, while the session was presided over by AASDC Director Professor Dr Md Faruk Hossain.

Deans of various faculties, including Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Humanities and Business Education, were also present at the event.

In his address, the vice-chancellor emphasized that research-based knowledge and quality academic writing are fundamental to higher education and innovation. He urged students to strengthen their research skills and engage in internationally recognized scientific publications.

AASDC Director Professor Dr Md Faruk Hossain said the initiative aims to enhance students’ academic skills, promote research interest, and improve scientific writing abilities. He added that the center will continue organizing training sessions on topics such as stress management, time management, CV writing, viva preparation, career planning, and professional skill development.

The workshop featured training sessions conducted by Professor Dr Mostafa Zaman Chowdhury as the resource person.

Third-year students from the Departments of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering participated in the workshop, which covered research fundamentals, academic writing techniques, research ethics, reference management, and publication processes, along with hands-on activities.
