The Birdman star and boyfriend of Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield is in demand, but admits she struggled to come to terms with her fame.
Emma Stone has made a career out of taking wildly different roles – a sullen bass player, a nerdy schoolgirl, a zombie killer and Spider-Man’s girlfriend Gwen Stacy among others. In her latest film, “Birdman,” she plays Sam, a rebellious daughter just out of drug rehab whose father, played by Michael Keaton, is a washed-up actor mounting a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim his past glory.
In a latest interview with Mirror, the 26-year-old said that the trademark husky voice of her came as she was a colicky baby in her childhood. “I think it came because I was a colicky baby, but I don’t know that for a fact. That’s just what I attribute it to. Nobody’s ever really said I was getting a part because of my voice, but it’s the only one I’ve got so I’m sticking with it!” she said.
While asked about how Emma cope with the demands of filming “Birdman” and “Spider-Man 2” at the same time, she said “I thought it was going to be more intense than it actually was. It was really liberating to break off from playing someone like Gwen Stacy to play Sam, who is probably the shadowy side of Gwen. It felt invigorating.”
