Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the death of Ayesha Foyez, mother of celebrated writers Humayun Ahmed and Zafar Iqbal.
In a message of condolence the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members, BSS reported.
Pakistani occupation forces brutally killed Ayesha Foyez's husband and police officer Faizur Rahman during the War of Liberation in 1971.
Ayesha Foyez, also mother of eminent cartoonist Ahsan Habib, died at a city hospital on Saturday morning.
Ahsan Habib said his mother was suffering from several complications including kidney diseases.
She was born on March 23, 1930 and got married in 1944. Her police officer husband Faizur Rahman embraced martyrdom during the Liberation War in 1971.
